How full can I fill the skip?

You can fill the skip level with the top edge of skip.
The reasons you should not over fill are -

So the skip is not overloaded by weight -
both the skip and the skip lorry have a maximum carried weight capability (pre-determined by their size).  The maximum load weight of the lorry is a legal restriction to ensure safe drivability.  The Ministry of Transport carryout spot checks therefore it is imperative a skip is not overloaded by weight.

So the skip is not overloaded by volume -
an overloaded or overflowing skip would make the load unbalanced and liable to fall during transit.

Please remember the driver will be prosecuted if things go wrong.

If you require a larger skip we will be delighted to supply you – a larger skip is more economical than several smaller skips. If you are unsure of the size you require please ring our service team for advice.

The use of ‘greedy boards’ is not permitted as they are insecure.

How long can I have the skip?

Our standard agreement is for a skip to be kept up to 7 days. We are happy to agree alternative arrangements should you require. When you hire a skip you are paying for the waste disposal (tipping) by capacity (weight/volume), therefore the price is per skip collection rather than how many days it remains with you. Please ensure you let us know when the skip will be ready for collection (the more notice the better!)

What can I put in the skip?

Basically any general rubbish from the home, building trade and industry but NOT ASBESTOS, CHEMICALS, TYRES, FRIDGES OR FREEZERS without prior arrangements with our team. If in doubt please ring and ask and we can explain all about the different kinds of waste and prices.

What happens to the rubbish I put in the skip?

The vast majority of waste we collect is taken to our waste transfer station where it is sorted into the correct waste types for recycling or disposal at Authority compliant sites. We continually strive for more ways of recycling even more waste.
